SiCKO Premieres in Ithaca;
Free Tickets for Tuesday, July 10th Showings for Uninsured People

The Tompkins County Workers' Center, in collaboration with one of our Coalition partners, the Tompkins County Health Care Task Force, will be out in full force for the arrival of the much-awaited Michael Moore movie, SiCKO, premiering at Ithaca's Cinemapolis Theater on Tuesday, July 3rd. The movie, which is a powerful indictment of our present health insurance system with concrete solutions proferred, will play every day at 7:15 and 9:35 p.m. In addition, it will show at 2:15 and 4:35 on Wednesday, July 4th.

***We will have a Press Conference highlighting the importance of serious health care reform, and the contribution SiCKO is making to the movement, on Thursday, July 5th, at 11:30 a.m. at the Department of Social Services (DSS) Building at 320 W. State St. ALL ARE INVITED TO THIS CONFERENCE TO HELP MAKE AN IMPORTANT STAND.

***In addition, the Workers' Center and Health Care Task Force, in collaboration with Cinemapolis Theater, will be giving away free passes to those people who do not have health insurance for both showings on Tuesday, July 10th. Those interested in obtaining passes must contact the Workers' Center at 269-0409 or visit our Center at 115 The Commons in Ithaca.

***We are also going to be doing an organizing drive (getting people's stories of inadequate or no health insurance; petitions for a statewide and federal single-payer health care system) before and after each showing of SiCKO for as long as it plays in Ithaca. If you can help out at any time, (8:45-9:45 p.m.) any day, please let us know by contacting the Workers' Center at TCWRC@yahoo.com or by calling 607-269-0409.

Please also consider signing our petition (we presently have over 1300 signatures) that demands New York legislators and Governor to enact a single-payer/universal health care system for the State of New York.
